Mesothelioma Survivor
These just landed on my desk. The author gave me permission to share his story:
"Please alert people to something we know now – having to clean up the mess not to appoint a person as a person as a beneficiary of a life insurance policy us. Are having an impossible time trying to get paid for funeral expenses for my sister and my mother. They died in four days of each other, and left the other as a beneficiary of their life insurancepolicies.
"If the person designated as beneficiary dies, the insurance benefit goes to them.
"The problem is that none of them had a will, either."
(Part: This means that the two areas, mother and daughter, will be audited by the Court or the Court to decide who gets what. The process can be long and can be expensive. The family could not watch the funeral of money for some time .)
"Also, please warn people to be sure that the personchoose to be their medical decision maker – the person who has medical power of attorney – is ready to do what they want to do. Consideration of the mental capacity of the person appointed regularly.
"My mother 85 years could not honor my sister's living will that said he wanted permission to go. The doctor would write a letter indicating the mother was not able to make these decisions for my sister, who was coma.
"Then, my sister was alive, although there was no hope she would never wake up or to live a productive life. He stayed for months on a ventilator.
"My family and I wish we had thought all these things before. We take our sound cards at this time."
He was soooo right.
Life insurance is something that we all tend to forget. When did you start this new job, you have documents from your employer's insurance beneficiary, the first day. Have you ever thought of them then?
Whatyour medical and financial powers of representation (is not it?). If you call your spouse on one or two, what happens if you are in an accident together? There is a person named Secodi can intervene?
If you have made arrangements for your children when they were small, there are things that should change now thatthey're elderly? Now that several years have passed, it would still describe the same people to take care of your children in case of disaster?
Youhave a will? Otherwise, a stranger in a black robe is going to make decisions for you one day.
What are your parents? If one of them dies, the survivor has made the necessary amendments to legal documents?
If a parent is in poor health or confused, he or she is still the only legally designated to make decisions for others?
This does not mean a lot to do with your age. Who more than 18 years should considerthese problems and acting. If you do something now, before something goes tragically wrong?
You bet!
